Week 10 of the NFL season is upon us and it is time to present the weekly series dedicated to early picks for each NFL game in the coming week. These picks are straight up and not against the spread. Here you get who the home team and away teams are as well as the chosen winner with a little data to back up that opinion. It is just that simple, clear and concise.
You will also get a weekly Lock of the Week. Each week I will pick one game that I feel cannot lose. With that will be supporting data to back up that stance. Obviously each week anything can happen in the NFL but there is always a game that sets itself apart from the others. Can Eli Manning and crew be Tom Brady and New England killers again? Will Wes Welker be the answer for the Rams third down woes? Can the 1A and 1B of Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree continue against Adrian Peterson and the Vikings? Without any further trepidation enjoy the 2015-2016 NFL Week 10 Picks and Predictions, Lock of The Week.
Lock of the Week
Green Bay Packers over Detroit Lions
The Packers have lost two in a row and I hear folks getting concerned. They are still tied for the division lead and let us not forget those two losses. The first was at the then undefeated Denver Broncos at Mile High and last week was a loss on the road against the still undefeated Carolina Panthers with Cam Newton playing his weekly role as Superman.
Now they return home upset and ready to play like the Packers we all expect. Aaron Rodgers is almost lights out at home and the Lions will come in and hope to avoid getting throttled. Eddie Lacy is an enigma this year but expect a solid week from him and James Starks this week.
The Lions are firing everyone and just look plain old bad. At the beginning of the season I would have never expected this. Calvin Johnson has lost a step or two and the running game is nonexistent. Stafford does have Eric Ebron, who should have a big week, but that will not be enough to handle the Packers.
The Packers will return to their winning ways this week and they can thank the Detroit Lions and a little Wisconsin air for the change.
2015 Lock of the Week Record: 9-0-0
Time (ET) | Away | Home | Pick |
8:05 | Buffalo Bills | New York Jets | Jets |
Time to see who wants it more. McCoy and Williams will not run over the Jets like they did to Miami. Ivory and crew will not be gashing either. In a battle of two close ones I will take the home team.
1:00 | Jacksonville Jaguars | Baltimore Ravens | Ravens |
Steve Smith is gone for the year and a No. 1 must present himself. They are coming off a bye which helps the corps feel healthier. Meanwhile, the Jags with Yeldon and Bortles keep improving. Call it a hunch but the Ravens home and after a bye to resolve who will be the No. 1 seem logical.
1:00 | Detroit Lions | Green Bay Packers | Packers |
See lock of the week. | |||
1:00 | Miami Dolphins | Philadelphia Eagles | Eagles |
The Eagles appear to be working things out as the weeks move forward. The Dolphins are coming off two in division throttling's. The Dolphins are just confused and will not right the ship this week.
1:00 | Cleveland Browns | Pittsburgh Steelers | Steelers |
Big Ben is most likely out and will be hobbled even if he goes, there is no Bell despite how Williams has played that is a minus. Meanwhile the Browns have been trending down looking poor in three straight but it is the week before there bye week and they might just find a gear. Landry Jones is not great but he might just be enough to squeak past the Browns at home with a big defensive effort.
1:00 | Chicago Bears | St Louis Rams | Rams |
Despite how much fun it is to make fun of him, Cutler has been solid overall this year and Langford played very well last week with the absence of Forte. The Rams look for a cure to their 3rd down woes with the addition of Wes Welker. He should make an instant impact. Add in Gurley and a defense that can make QBs look like a shell I like the Rams at home.
1:00 | Dallas Cowboys | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Buccaneers |
Wow, where do you begin. The Cowboys got Dez but still need Matty Not-Ice to get him the ball. McFadden is a wind gust away from injury and they wait one more week for Romo. The Bucs are a week removed from beating the Falcons. I expect Martin to return to his start and Winston to look pretty good. I prefer the Bucs at home in a close one.
1:00 | Carolina Panthers | Tennessee Titans | Panthers |
The Tians with Mariota and Andrew are better than without but this will be a tall order even at home. The Panther might no win pretty but they just keep winning. Enough about who they have played because if you look at the squads it has been no cake walk and they beat them all . this team could go 14-2 or 15-1 this year.
1:00 | New Orleans Saints | Washington Redskins | Saints |
The Saints defense can be scored upon (just ask Eli) which bodes well for Cousins and crew. Here is the problem. The Redskins defense can be scored on as well and Brees and crew are a superior offensive unit in every way. Saints on the road without question.
4:05 | Minnesota Vikings | Oakland Raiders | Raiders |
Bridgewater looks like a go this week and AP is always dangerous. The Raiders face a tougher defense this week but Carr, Cooper, and Crabtree can get it done especially at home. The Vikings travel west and end the week a game out of first.
4:25 | Kansas City Chiefs | Denver Broncos | Broncos |
Here was the problem last week. The Broncos were more worried about Peyton getting the record than winning the game and thus abandoned the run and it showed. That was a wakeup call and that is a bad this for Smith, West and crew.
4:25 | New England Patriots | New York Giants | Patriots |
Eli is playing the best football over his career this year, the run game is not as bad as you think when you look at the whole committee. JPP makes his return to the club as well which will spark a poor defense. Brady lost Lewis for the year and that is troublesome but not this week. The Patriots are to much for everyone and that continues this week.
8:30 | Arizona Cardinals | Seattle Seahawks | Seahawks |
The Cardinals are the real deal, make no mistake about it. However, the Seahawks are looking better and than defense is tough especially at home. Wilson will use the tight end more as he learns the skillset and to ease the hits. The Seahawks should win at home and close the gap for the division lead.
8:30 | Houston Texans | Cincinnati Bengals | Bengals |
Let me tell you why the Texans are going to go into Cincinnati and get a key road win. Na I can't, while anything can happen it is not likely to expect them to go into Bengal Nation and take down a Dalton=led crew that is handling everyone they play. 9-0 should be the reality after MNF. |
