At Sports Unbiased we believe in information. We also believe there is no such thing as too much information. With that I present the weekly series dedicated to early picks for each NFL game in the coming week. These picks are straight up and not against the spread. Here you get who the home team and away teams are as well as the chosen winner with a little data to back up that opinion. It is just that simple, clear and concise.
You will also get a weekly Lock of the Week. Each week I will pick one game that I feel cannot lose. With that will be supporting data to back up that stance. Obviously each week anything can happen in the NFL but there is always a game that sets itself apart from the others. Without any further trepidation we present the NFL picks and Lock of the Week. Enjoy the 2015-2016 NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions, Lock of The Week.
Lock of the Week
Green Bay Packers over San Francisco 49ers
Yes I know the San Francisco 49ers opened the year with a victory at home against the now 2-1 Minnesota Vikings but if you think about it the game was a pre-season game for the Vikings. It was the first real game play for Adrian Peterson since his return while Carlos Hyde had an otherworldly game.
Since then they have been absolutely throttled by the Pittsburgh Steelers without LeVeon Bell losing by 25 points. They backed up that loss with an abysmal 47-7 drudging at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals. Heck Kaepernick completed less than 50 percent of his passes for 67 yards and four, that right, four interceptions.
Meanwhile, in opposite world, the Green Bay Packers just continue to roll. Convincingly beating back-to-back Super Bowl aspirating teams. They handled the Seattle Seahawks at home even without Eddie Lacy for three quarters.
Then on Monday Night Football they completely annihilated the Kansas City Chiefs in a game that was not even close to the final score. Aaron Rodgers continued to show why he is the best quarterback in the NFL throwing for over 300 yards and five touchdowns, including three to Randall Cobb and yet another to the resurrected James Jones.
This game, even though it is in San Francisco, has the making of a laugher. It appears the margin of victory will all depend on how much the Packers want to keep their feet on the accelerator. Of course it is the NFL, and anything is possible but still it would have to take a gift from the football gods to keep the 49ers from getting it taken to them this week.
|8:25||Baltimore Ravens||Pittsburgh Steelers||Steelers|
|Ravens cannot seem to win since they keep finding a way to lose. Meanwhile the Steelers are formidable even without Big Ben. Bell carries them and Vick does just enough to Brown and Miller.|
|1:00||New York Jets||Miami Dolphins||Dolphins|
|Ignore the records. Jets are okay but they beat the Browns and lost to the Eagles. Dolphins lost to a talented Bills team. It is a pick em in my mind and then I default to the home team.|
|1:00||Houston Texans||Atlanta Falcons||Falcons|
|JJ Watt cannot clone himself and cover Freeman, Jones and crew. If Winston throws for 261 what will Ryan do this week. Atlanta in a close one despite the superhuman JJ Watt efforts.|
|1:00||New York Giants||Buffalo Bills||Bills|
|I would love to tell you the Giants will win. They do have a chance but Bills are averaging more points than the Giants high game. Taylor appears to be the real deal and the Giants defense will have to face him, Watkins, Shady (if he goes) and Williams. Closer than many think but Bills win.|
|1:00||Oakland Raiders||Chicago Bears||Raiders|
|No Cutler and the Bears are just horrid. Forte cannot do it alone which is proven by three straight laughers. Raiders are trending with two straight and should make it three for Carr and company even in Chicago.|
|1:00||Kansas City Chiefs||Cincinnati Bengals||Bengals|
|Chiefs were an expert pick in preseason but snatched defeat from victory two weeks ago and were laughed off the field in Green Bay. Dalton and the Bengals just keep rolling dodging the Ravens last week. Expect the Bengals to stack the box and shut down Charles then by extension the Chiefs.|
|1:00||Jacksonville Jaguars||Indianapolis Colts||Colts|
|Colts finally won but did not look great. Jaguars were crushed by the Patriots. Jaguars gave up 350+ to last two opposing QBs and now they get Luck. This could be the game that cures what sickens the Colts.|
|1:00||Carolina Panthers||Tampa Bay Buccaneers||Panthers|
|Winston is improving and Evans is back but the Bucs have not allowed 20 yet this year. Cam "Superman" Newton carries the Panthers who have been stingy as well. Panthers in an ugly and close one.|
|1:00||Philadelphia Eagles||Washington Redskins||Eagles|
|Both QBs are not good right now but Cousins has thrown 23 picks faster than Jamarcus Russell did. Running game went in different directions for each last week. The Chip Kelly experiment is interesting but not sold yet. In a battle of what the hecks I take the team with more "weapons."|
|4:05||Cleveland Browns||San Diego Chargers||Chargers|
|Manziel should be on the field, period. Browns are dead last in rushing defense and now they get Gordon/Woodhead and a mix of Rivers/Allen. Oh boy, this one has the recipe for ugly.|
|4:25||St Louis Rams||Arizona Cardinals||Cardinals|
|The Rams are dead last in total offense scoring 16.7 pts per game and the Cards are 6th scoring 42. Both have top-10 defenses. Cardinals are rolling and Rams could have been 0-3 entering this week. A blowout is coming.|
|4:25||Green Bay Packers||San Francisco 49ers||Packers|
|Are you kidding? This should be a laugher. See my lock of the week.|
|4:25||Minnesota Vikings||Denver Broncos||Vikings|
|The Broncos have run for 170 yards total through three games. Skinny legs Peyton has been serviceable. Throw out week 1 for the Vikings and you have a team that has an all cylinders AP with a serviceable QB and corps. Both teams allow about 16 a game. Vikings control enough clock to win at mile high in an upset.|
|8:30||Dallas Cowboys||New Orleans Saints||Saints|
|What on earth do you make of this one? This could be a battle of the backups. Cowboys are 2-1 but 0-1 without Romo and Bryant. Saints are 0-3 and might be without Brees again but two losses against 3-0 teams. I trust the Verizon commercial and back the Saints to break their season and home losing streak.|
|8:30||Detroit Lions||Seattle Seahawks||Seahawks|
|Detroit has a hard time scoring the last two weeks and now they get Seattle in 12th Man territory. While it was the Bears last week, the Seahawks got on track and finally got their defensive rock back. Now that they remember they have Jimmy Graham they should continue the streak to two at home.|
