His name is not flashy and many still do not know who he is but Arizona Cardinals rookie running back David Johnson is a must start in week 3 at Draft Kings or any other daily fantasy football league. He is not going to get 25 carries in the game but there is much more to look at in relation to his productivity.
First, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has publically said that Johnson’s roll in the Cardinals offense is going to grow each week. According to Arians, “We’ll just keep bringing David along, He’ll have a vital role every week.” That is a great sign. Couple that with the fact that Andre Ellington will not be playing this week and that the only thing keeping David Johnson off the field is the formerly explosive Chris Johnson, who is a shell of what he was with the Titans a few years ago.
Week 1 Johnson saw a very limited role as he returned kickoffs for 43 yards but did catch one of two targets for a 55 yard touchdown. That flashed what the coaches wanted to see. Week 2 his roll expanded, thanks in part to Ellington being out, as he saw two more targets but also had five carries for 42 yards (8.4 Y/A) and returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown to start the game.
Ellington is out again week 3 so you can expect the role of the dynamic rookie to expand. Chris Johnson only averaged 3.60 Y/A in his 20 carries last week. I would expect to see David Johnson approach 10 carries this week with five targets in the passing game under Carson Palmer.
David Johnson can he had for $4,000 (up $200 from last week). In week 1 he had 12.5 fantasy points and stepped that up to 17.5 fantasy points. Below is a comparison of a few running backs, their cost and the fantasy points that accumulated.

Obviously, it is not a perfect situation as you will rely on an increased workload and a big play but for me it comes down to value when you have to field a squad with a $50,000 cap. Where can I steal points and save money for a couple of bigger players.
David Johnson is without a doubt, your guy. He is going against a susceptible defense and the only thing keeping carries from him is a running back that is okay at best. At $4,000 I cannot find a way that you would pass him up. It just makes too much sense and he should be in your lineup for week 3.
