At Sports Unbiased we believe in information. We also believe there is no such thing as too much information. With that I present the weekly series dedicated to early picks for each NFL game in the coming week. These picks are straight up and not against the spread. Here you get who the home team and away teams are as well as the chosen winner with a little data to back up that opinion. It is just that simple, clear and concise.
You will also get a weekly Lock of the Week. Each week I will pick one game that I feel cannot lose. With that will be supporting data to back up that stance. Obviously each week anything can happen in the NFL but there is always a game that sets itself apart from the others. Without any further trepidation we present the NFL picks and Lock of the Week. Enjoy the 2015-2016 NFL Week 3 Picks and Predictions, Lock of The Week.
Lock of the Week
New England Patriots over Jacksonville Jaguars
Blake Bortles is working his way into a solid NFL quarterback, which is something the Jaguars desperately needed, but it is not a fair comparison yet. Brady is setting the world on fire with 750+ yards passing, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions over the first two games.
Rookie T.J. Yeldon has looked like the real deal as his workload increases in Jacksonville but he will have a tough time improving his 3.3 yard per carry average in Foxboro. Meanwhile the Patriots Dion Lewis is more than serviceable on a team that will adapt its offense to the opponent. The comparison at tight end is laughable at this time. Gronkowski should easily take over the middle of the field against the players that Jacksonville will try and use to cover him.
The Jaguars are minus eight in total points playing two home games against the Panthers and Dolphins. The Patriots are plus 15 with a home win against the Steelers (who just throttled the 49ers) and a road win against the hyped Bills. If you compare these defenses, the Jaguars defense has forced three turnovers over the first two games while the Patriots defense has forced seven. Each category puts New England on top and they are at home. This one should be a laugher and a lesson for the young Jaguars team.
Time (ET) | Away | Home | Pick |
8:25 | Washington Redskins | New York Giants | NYG |
The Skins looked okay but the Giants have looked better minus the 4th qtr. That has to turn around right? On paper this is the Giants game to lose.
1:00 | Cincinnati Bengals | Baltimore Ravens | Bengals |
I am at a loss right now. Baltimore has not impressed me but Dalton and crew have. Forsett needs to get going desperately. Take Bengals on the road even in a division battle.
1:00 | New Orleans Saints | Carolina Panthers | Panthers |
NO has been less than impressive this year including the loss to the lowly Bucs last week. The Panthers, while not pretty, have found ways to win. Newton and crew with the nod.
1:00 | Oakland Raiders | Cleveland Browns | Raiders |
Mr Carr is definitely not his brother. Great rookie and resurgent Crabtree will be trouble for the Browns. Raiders should get one in the left column.
1:00 | Atlanta Falcons | Dallas Cowboys | Falcons |
Dallas is without their top three producers from last year. Call me crazy but I do not trust Mr Weeden even with a solid defense. Atlanta's game to lose.
1:00 | Jacksonville Jaguars | New England Patriots | Patriots |
Bortles and crew are getting better and Yeldon appears to be the real deal but Brady and crew are much to much for many including the Jaguars.
1:00 | Philadelphia Eagles | New York Jets | Jets |
The mad genius just looks nuts at this point. The Jets are getting turnovers at a historic rate and Fitz, Ivory have been serviceable. Everyone beats the Eagles until proven otherwise.
1:00 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Houston Texans | Texans |
The Bucs looked much better last week but the Mallet gets a start under his belt and if Foster returns it is over.
1:00 | San Diego Chargers | Minnesota Vikings | Vikings |
Week 2 showed us the AP and Vikings we expected. They are at home and C Johnson will make his presence felt.
1:00 | Pittsburgh Steelers | St. Louis Rams | Steelers |
Bell return and will be out for blood. Steelers put up 40+ without him. Sorry Rams, bad timing even if Gurley debuts.
1:00 | Indianapolis Colts | Tennessee Titans | Colts |
The Colts look horrid. Andrew Luck looks less comfortable in the pocket than his rookie counterpart. Missing almost all their secondary but Tenn is a work in progress. Colts gets easier opponent and off the snide. |
|||
4:05 | San Francisco 49ers | Arizona Cardinals | Cardinals |
49ers looked good in week 1 but their reality was handed to them by the Steelers week 2. Palmer and Johnson squared will continue to roll.
4:05 | Buffalo Bills | Miami Dolphins | Dolphins |
Bills made NE game look closer than it was. Dolphins struggled a bit against Jaguars. Tannehill-Landry looks like a real deal. Miller need to produce. Dolphins at home in a close one.
4:05 | Chicago Bears | Seattle Seahawks | Seahawks |
No shame in losing in GB to the Packers. Seattle gets off the snide against the Bears who just cannot stop anyone from scoring. Wilson and crew go off at home.
8:30 | Denver Broncos | Detroit Lions | Lions |
Denver keeps finding a way to look ugly and win. The Lions are trying to snatch a win. My gut says Denver travels and cannot keep up with the Detroit WRs. Lions win.
8:30 | Kansas City Chiefs | Green Bay Packers | Packers |
GB took care of business at home but the injury to Lacy will determine a lot going forward. The Chiefs let one slip away against Denver. Take the home team in a coin toss. |
