Fantasy football season is right around the corner and it is never too soon to gather as much valuable data as possible. Each person, stat or edge that you can find will go a long way in determining who you should draft and how to structure you team in hopes of winning the 2015 championship.
Below is my breakdown of who I believe will be the top fantasy tight ends for the 2015 season. You will find a list and a further breakdown of the top-10 tight ends in the list.
The breakdown below is based on a PPR league so take that into account with some of the rankings. With that the tight end receives one point for each reception, one point for each 10 yards receiving, six points for each scored touchdown, two points for each completed two point conversion, and loses two points for each fumble. Standard rushing and passing rules apply. Obviously much of this data is transferable to numerous different league configurations but I wanted to ensure clarity up front. Let’s get to it and see how the breakdown begins.
Player To Watch On Draft Day – Jordan Cameron
Top-25 Tight Ends
With or without Brady he will deliver. Appears to have shaken the injury bug. Should be able to match the 80+ reception, 1,100 yard, and 12 TDs of last season.
The loss of Brees and move to Wilson has an affect. But he should stay on top especially since he is healthy again. They spread it around in Seattle but expect Graham to top 1,000 yards and double digit TDs.
He is one of two primary targets but the knock remains, he does not get into the end zone. However, he will approach 1,000 yards and 80 receptions.
He has solid hands especially for a tight end which resulted in 90 catches last year. That probably will decrease but the new offensive coordinator is the same that schemed for Julius Thomas in Denver which bodes very well.
When he got on the field he quickly become the primary target. Maclin will change that but expect him to get real volume from Smith in KC. In this system, he should best 70 receptions and 700 yards.
Witten did not have a typical statistical season last year and saw a decline in production but much of that was due to Murray lighting things up. With Murray gone expect a return to his previous role as a safety for Romo.
Took a huge step forward last year under new tutelage despite the QB. Mariota should use him as a safety valve. His 60+ catch, 900 yard season can be matched again.
He has a great spot with AP returning and an accurate second year QB in Bridgewater. He will get red zone looks and he is a solid route runner. If healthy he can be a top-5 TE.
It is all about health here. He can catch and has deceptive speed for a tight end. Factor in Manning and a Kubiak offense and it is lift off for Daniels if he can stay on the field which is the gamble with him historically.
Impressive teamed with Peyton. Moves to Jacksonville after a huge contract. He level of effort will be tested. He will still be good but nothing like Denver until Bortles matures more. Think 70 catches and 700 yards with five TDs.
