A lot of people like this year’s quarterback class and feel that it will produce a few franchise guys. A lot of people also liked the 2011 draft class of quarterbacks, but that class hasn’t lived up to its expectations.
Don’t get me wrong, I see at least four quarterbacks being taken in the first round, potentially even five. I, on the other hand, do not see these four to five guys all becoming the players that the general media think they will become. Also don’t have a heart attack that Johnny Manziel is ranked #35 on my list. I believe he will be drafted top-5, but I’m not convinced he will translate to the NFL.
Wide receiver and tight end are loaded this year. Not only are their a dozen or so of good receivers, but they have a great range of height to select for any system. If you’re looking for red zone threat look no further than Texas A&M’s Mike Evans, Florida State’s Kelvin Benjamin, or Rutgers’ Brandon Coleman. Each one of these guys can go up and get it. There are also some speedsters, reliable possession receivers, and shifty slot guys in this years draft. As far as tight ends go, we may see three tight ends taken in the first round this year. Eric Ebron of UNC is a unique receiving threat along the likes of the San Francisco 49ers Vernon Davis. This tight end class is deep compared to previous years.
