The first knowledge grab of the week are the weekly NFL writers picks which is up early each week. Then you can find an in-depth analysis of the week’s marquee matchups in a series we call the 2013 NFL Weekly In-Depth Analysis which is now a series of five articles that cover the marquee games of the week and Monday Night Football. These articles will prepare you in time for your office pools or any other venture you might consider.
As part of the NFL Weekly In-Depth Analysis series we present the clash between the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers. This is a Monday Night Football game to be played at 8:40 PM EST game at Bank of America Stadium as the 6-3 Carolina Panthers host the 7-2 New England Patriots. Here are the Vegas odds for the game and what the Sports Unbiased In-Depth Analysis Team believes will occur this Monday. The writers taking part are: Josh Madas, Chris Pagliuca and John Yeomans.
Vegas Odds (Spread and Over-Under): Carolina minus 2 1/2, 46 u
John’s Pick: Well Cam Newton passed the test, by showing composure throughout the game against the 49ers even when the going got tough. Now everybody (even myself) is jumping on the Panthers bandwagon, after their impressive win against the San Francisco, that showed their defense is the real deal. However, the road to success doesn’t get any easier with the 7-2 New England Patriots coming to town. The Patriots seemed to have found their groove on offense two weeks ago, when they decimated the Steelers (55-21). Although, something that stands out to me is that the two loses that Patriots have come at the hands of top ten defenses (Jets and Bengals), which the Panthers clearly have(ranked second in total defense). Because of this and the fact that Bank of America stadium will be rocking, with how the Panther have been playing, I see the Carolina continuing their success and getting another big victory in this Monday night showdown. Panthers 20 Patriots 17
Josh’s Pick: I love this matchup, especially on Monday Night Football. The Patriots are finally getting healthy and the Panthers are finally playing up to their potential. It is a classic game of a great offense against a tough defense.
Cam Newton has certainly answered all of the questions surrounding his will to be a winning quarterback in the NFL. At 6-3, the Panthers find themselves as a dangerous threat to the top teams in the NFC. After a stellar win last week against San Francisco, Carolina is looking to establish themselves as a top contender with a win on Monday night.
The Patriots have quietly put together an excellent season. It is hard to bet against the great Tom Brady and Bill Belichick combo. However, the Panthers are at the top of their game and are getting stronger each week. I am predicting that the Panthers harass Brady all night and find a way to keep the Patriots offense off of the field. Final Score: Carolina 14 – New England 10
Chris’ Pick: The Panthers look like a whole new football team. their defense ranks number two in the league in yards allowed and is just downright scary good. The Patriots offense has been rattled by injuries and hasn’t looked the same without Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez. I believe this will be a defensive game on both sides of the ball, but I see the Panthers edging out a narrow victory once again. Panthers – 24 Patriots – 20
