As part of the NFL Weekly In-Depth Analysis series we present the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos. This is a 8:30 PM EST game that will be played at Sports Authority Field at Mile High as the 8-1 Denver Broncos host the 9-0 Kansas City Chiefs. Here are the Vegas odds for the game and what the Sports Unbiased In-Depth Analysis Team believes will occur this Sunday. The writers taking part are: Josh Madas, Chris Pagliuca and John Yeomans.
Vegas Odds (Spread and Over-under): Denver minus 8, 49 1/2 u
John’s Pick: The Chiefs stop offenses (only allowing 12.3 points a game) in their tracks, while the Broncos score at will against opposing defenses (averaging 41.2 points a game). So something’s got to give Sunday night when these two teams face off. One thing is for sure, with Manning’s leg not 100 percent you know the Chiefs will be zoning in and trying to put the future hall of famer out of the game. The battle between Jamal Charles (725 rushing yards) and the resilient Broncos rush defense (ranked fourth) will be also vital in who wins this game. Also for Kansas City to have a shot I believe Alex Smith has to take advantage of the Broncos limitations against the pass, which means he can’t just play game manger like he has been. This is a very tough call as the Broncos haven’t faced a defense of this magnitude and this is the first Chiefs clash against a team over .500. Still, I think the home team gets the victory, but it will be a barn burner for sure. Broncos 27 Chiefs 21
Josh’s Pick: Let me just start by saying that I think Kansas City has earned everything they have accomplished this year. I have heard all of the analysts say that their schedule is weak and they have not played extremely well. Putting that aside, they are still 9-0 and have greatly improved from a year ago. They deserve to be recognized for their incredible achievements up until this point.
With that being said, I do not think that the Chiefs have the talent to keep up with the Denver Broncos. Even with a banged up Peyton Manning, the Broncos have shown that they are the top team in the AFC. If the Chiefs want to make a statement and prove how good they are, Sunday night would be their chance. Still, I am picking the Broncos to win this weekend. Final Score: Denver 35 – Kansas City 21
Chris’ Pick: If Peyton Manning is able to play and is at least 90 percent healthy, I’ll have to go with the Broncos. The Chiefs have looked terrific, playing smart football on offense and are one of the best defenses in the league. The only reason I don’t believe the Chiefs are a legitimate threat is because out of all nine teams they have defeated, not one of those teams holds a record of over .500 as of this point in the season. The Chief defense may cause Manning some problems, but I see the Broncos relying on the running game a bit more than usual this week. It might be a close one, but I don’t see the Chiefs being able to outscore the Broncos, especially with their conservative style of play. Broncos – 31 Chiefs – 20
