As part of the NFL Weekly In-Depth Analysis series we present the clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions. This is a 1:00 PM EST game that will be played at Ford Field as the 4-3 Detroit Lions host the 4-3 Dallas Cowboys. Will Romo or Stafford prevail? Will Murray play? How healthy is Megatron? Both teams are both in line to win their divisions in 2013 so this should be a great game. Here are the Vegas odds for the game and what the Sports Unbiased In-Depth Analysis Team believes will occur this Sunday. The writers taking part are: Mike Santangelo, “Coach” Mike Fabber, John Yeomans and Chris Pagliuca.
Vegas Odds (Spread and Over-Under): Detroit minus 3, 51 u
Mike’s Pick: This game is a pretty close one overall. Both teams are playing pretty well and both have the same record at 4-3. Both teams feature top WR’s as their main offensive weapon, and both have a running game that can be hit or miss. Heck, both even have silver and white for their colors. The difference between the two of them, to me, is going to come down to home field advantage and that star WR. Megatron is a better receiver than Dez Bryant, and he’ll be playing at home where the Lions hold a 2-1 record so far this year. On the other side the Cowboys are 1-2 away from home this year, and while Tony Romo has been playing mistake free football for the most part this year, there is always the specter of interceptions at crucial moments hanging over his head. I think that happens here, this game stays close most of the way, and a mistake by the Cowboys late costs them the game. Final Score: Lions 34 Cowboys 31
John’s Pick: The Cowboys finally won a road game and now seem to have everybody jumping on their bandwagon, while the Lions lost a thriller to the Bengals and are looking to keep up with Green Bay in the NFC North. Even with the Cowboys riding a two game winning streak Tony Romo hasn’t been playing that great. Against two of the worst defenses (Washington and Philadelphia) Romo has more turnovers (four) than touchdowns (two) and has a measly quarterback rating of 71.05. In that same two game span Matt Stafford has been on fire with seven touchdowns and only one interception. Also with both quarterbacks having two of the best wide receivers in the league going up against defenses that give up a ton of yards in the passing game ( Dallas gives up 291.9 passing yards while Detroit gives up 282) this should lead to a high scoring affair. Call it a gut feeling but it’s about time for another fourth quarter blunder by Romo, which should seal a Lions victory. Final Score: Lions 27 Cowboys 24
Coach’s Picks: This is a big game for both teams. The Loins are coming off a tough loss but has the offense and defense to compete with any team in the league. Calvin Johnson is healthy again and looks like Megatron. They will try to hang in a tough NFC North division but they need a win to do so. The Cowboys are sitting at the top of the NFC East but that doesn’t mean what it used too. They are still beat up on the defensive side of the ball, which will cost them dearly. I don’t see this game being that good at the end of the day. Final Score: Lions 27 Cowboys 17
