Why This Game Is Important:
Both of these teams looked as if they were set for impressive seasons before the regular season kicked off. Now, these teams look like they are fighting to see who will select higher in the 2014 draft. The Falcons haven’t been playing as bad as their record would indicate, they have just been plagued by injuries. First Steven Jackson went down, Sean Witherspoon has been out, Julio Jones is now out for the year, and Roddy White will not play this weekend. Clowney would look real nice on the Falcons front four, just saying. As far as the Bucs go, it seems that Mike Glennon could be the new guy for them, unless a regime change occurs this offseason. Doug Martin hasn’t been the same player he was last season, but he is still a very good running back regardless. This would be a nice time for the Bucs to get a win so Glennon can feel like his effort will be rewarded in the future.
Why This Game Is Not Important:
It would take a miracle run for either of these teams to make it into the playoffs, especially with the Saints rolling through their division. Schiano could be booted out the door any day now. Yes it is only week seven, but that locker room is becoming cancerous with Schiano at the helm. Falcons fans just come to terms with the sadness now. Unless multiple backups breakout within the next week or two this season is pretty much lost. Good news though, Clowney is a really scary man and he would look real nice in the Falcons front seven.
Fantasy Players To Watch
Jacquizz Rodgers/Jason Snelling, RB: The Falcons are going running back by committee without Steven Jackson. Whoever gets hot will get the nod during the game as the primary running back. I wouldn’t suggest relying on either of these backs simply because you never know who will get the carries.
Doug Martin, RB: If you drafted Doug Martin with your first pick I apologize, but he can be a really good Flex. Hang in there Martin fans and let him take care of your Flex points.
Tony Gonzalez, TE: Good news, Gonzalez will get all of the targets with Jones and White out. Bad news, Gonzalez will get all of the linebacker and secondary attention with Jones and White out. This is a player that could rack up points fast especially if the Falcons have a lot of redzone possessions, but he is also a player who could fall flat because of consistent double and triple teams.
