These articles will prepare you in time for your office pools or any other venture you might consider.
As part of the NFL Weekly In-Depth Analysis series we present the clash between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers. This is a 1:00 PM EST game that will be played at Lambeau Field as the 1-2 Green Bay Packers host the 3-1 Detroit Lions. Will Mathew Stafford and Megatron be able to go into hostile territory and capture a key division victory? Will Aaron Rodgers and the Packers be able to defend their home turf? Here are the Vegas odds for the game and what the Sports Unbiased In-Depth Analysis Team believes will occur this Sunday. This week Chris Pagliuca, John Yeomans, “Coach” Mike Fabber and Mike Santangelo provide commentary on the game.
Vegas Odds: Packers -7 53 ½ u
Chris’ Pick: The Lions offense really impressed against the Bears last week. Reggie Bush has looked like an all-star, both in the rushing and passing game when healthy. However, I don’t see Bush being a huge factor on the ground in this one. This game will be a shootout between two of the strongest passing offenses going against weak secondaries. Both teams should be able to put up big numbers through the air. The deciding factor could very well come down to which Quarterback doesn’t turn the ball over and I believe that will be Aaron Rodgers who has proven to be the more consistent Quarterback of the two. Final Score: Packers 31 Lions 28
John’s Pick: With both Aaron Rodgers and Matt Stafford playing lights out and both teams secondary’s nowhere near the best in the league (Packers 28th and Lions 21st) this game has all the makings for a shootout. The Lions are looking more and more like the 2011 version that made the playoffs and only need one win to match their total from last season. In regards to the Packers they are coming off their bye week hoping to start showing their dominance after starting the season 1-2. With the offense finally getting production from the rushing game (128.4 yards a game despite Eddie Lacy and James Starks both going down with injuries), which mainly puts the blame mainly on the defense that is allowing 29.3 points a game. If the Lions want to start establishing themselves as winners this is the team to do it against as the packer have had their number since 2000 (4-22 record against Packers). Still with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers ready to right the ship I see them getting the victory, but not without the Lions putting up a fight. Final Score: Packers 40 Lions 37
Mike’s Pick: Green Bay is coming off of their bye week, and Eddy Lacy has been cleared to compete again. Both of those things don’t bode well for the Lions this week. While the Lions have been good (and are, in fact, leading their division after their win over the Bears last week), their defense has been just average. One thing Aaron Rodgers and the Packers can do is take advantage of a so-so defense and score a lot of points. One thing the Lions can do however, is also score a lot of points, even against teams that have a good defense such as the Bears. I think this one ends up being a shootout. And, in a shootout, I can’t ever bet against Aaron Rodgers, he is just too good, with too many weapons around him. Final Score: Packers 40 Lions 36
Coach’s Pick: Detroit Lions are riding high after a big win last week against the Chicago Bears. Green Bay had two weeks to prepare for this game. Detroit can score some points but Aaron Rodgers can score more. Eddie Lacy is back to pound the pig skin which will open things up for Cobb, Nelson, Jones, and Finley. This will be a high scoring affair but edge goes to the Packers. Final Score: Packers 38 Lions 27
