Detroit Lions vs. Washington Redskins
Why This Game Is Important: After last season who would have thought that RG3 and the Redskins would be 0-2 going into week three? Sure everyone likes to throw out that statistic that teams who start off 0-2 have around a 12 percent chance to make the playoffs but that is a bunch of bull. There is plenty of games left to be played. This week the Redskins will look to get going on offense from the first snap. They have been taking way too long to get into games, and that is due in part to RG3 being rusty. The Lions have a strong defensive line and they will be looking to put pressure on RG3 all night. The Packers and the Eagles rattled RG3 early and made the Redskins play from behind which resulted in wins for the Redskins opponents. If Stafford, Megatron and Reggie Bush get rolling quickly it could be a high scoring game for Detroit.
Why This Game Is Not Important: The shininess of RG3 is starting to wear off with and 0-2 start for Washington. The NFC East may also be one of the worst divisions in the NFL this season. As for Detroit, well they are Detroit. As the laughingstock of the league for a handful of years they still lack the respect of the national spotlight. This game could be a high scoring shootout, or could be embarrassing for viewers to watch.
Fantasy Players To Watch
Robert Griffin III, Quarterback: If the Redskins offensive line holds up and RG3 can avoid Detroit’s pass rush he could be the RG3 we all saw last season. The Lions secondary isn’t very good and this could be the game that RG3 reclaims his 2012 glory. It also could be the official signal of the dreaded sophomore slump.
Reggie Bush, Running Back: 200+ all purpose yards is completely realistic for Bush this week against an awful Redskins defense. The Redskins will be forced to double Megatron which will open up running and receiving lanes underneath for Bush. Bush is a definite start for week three.
Redskins Defense: Plain and simple, do not own the Redskins defense. Before the season began the Redskins defense looked very good, but they just aren’t playing to the level they are capable. That doesn’t look like it is likely to change this weekend either.
