Games of the Week: Carolina Panthers vs. Buffalo Bills & Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans
This week I had to go with two games of the week, because both came down to the wire and both games were decided by rookies. Buffalo was down by six with two minutes left to go. With no timeouts and rookie EJ Manuel at the helm, the chances were looking slim. However, EJ Manuel and the offense came alive and drove down the field. With six seconds to go, Manuel found a wide open Stevie Johnson in the corner of the end zone to score the game winning touchdown.
On the other hand the Texans missed a game winning field goal which forced the teams into overtime. With some offensive production, the Texans drove into the red zone. Matt Schaub wasted no time and went to his rookie wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins caught his first NFL touchdown which also just happened to be the game winner.
Worst Game of the Week: New York Jets vs. New England Patriots
This game was ugly from the start and when the rain started to fall in the second half it didn’t get any better. The Patriots struggled throughout the game on offense. They really couldn’t get a rushing attack going and Tom Brady looked out of sync with his young wide receivers. The Jets defense didn’t look to bad but the offense was a different story. New York found success running the ball early in drives however, abandoned it and went to the air. Geno Smith didn’t find much success in the air, throwing for 214 yards but also throwing three interceptions. The Patriots barely won this game but if they want to get back to the playoffs they need to start playing a whole lot better.

Top Fantasy Player: Eddie Royal
Eddie Royal hasn’t had five touchdowns since 2008, but just two weeks into the season Royal has accumulated five touchdowns. This past weekend he caught three touchdowns and had 90 receiving yards. Royal is most likely a free agent in most leagues and will certainly be the top waiver wire pickup this week.
Top Fantasy Rookie: DeAndre Hopkins
This kid can play and the Texans have to love him stepping up when their star Andre Johnson left the game with a concussion. Hopkins had seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. It seems that Matt Schaub is starting to trust the rookie and there is a nice chemistry between these two.
Worst Fantasy Player: Colin Kaepernick
Kaepernick is known for getting fantasy owners easy points on the ground but on Sunday night he couldn’t accomplish much at all. Kaepernick passed for 127 yards including three interceptions and had a fumble. The Seahawks manhandled the 49ers and might have found a recipe to stop the stud Kaepernick. I wouldn’t worry to much about Kaepernick’s performance it’s only one game.
Waiver Wire Pickups
QB: Phillip Rivers
Rivers looked good for the second straight week and it looks like he might be a nice waiver wire pickup. Rivers is a solid pickup and might just be a starter on your team if he continues to play like he is.
RB: James Stark, Bernard Pierce
With injuries to Eddie Lacy and Ray Rice both of these running backs will be a sure waiver wire pickup this week. If you don’t need a running back but feel you could use some trade bait or a little more depth on the bench it might be a good option to try to get one of these two.
WR: Eddie Royal, Robert Woods
Eddie Royal will be a sure waiver wire pickup for obvious reasons but if you’re not one of the top picks you are most likely going to have to look else where. Robert Woods might be a good pickup, he had a touchdown in week 1 and looked very solid in week 2 catching six passes for 68 yards.
TE: Garret Graham
Graham has two touchdowns in the last two weeks, but proceed with caution. I don’t look for this guy to continue his success and I would say only try to pick him up if you don’t have any good tight ends.
DEF & K: None
I wouldn’t waste a waiver wire pickup on defense or a kicker this week. If you really need one of these positions wait until waivers are over and pick them up as a free agent, by that point you can look at the match ups and weekly rankings and choose a better option.
