In his prime, Lamar Odom was a highly talented basketball player who flourished as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won multiple NBA championships alongside Kobe Bryant. Odom’s NBA career spiraled downward after he parted ways with the Lakers during the 2010-11 NBA season. He had a brief stint with the Dallas Mavericks in 2012, where he played 50 games and averaged 6.6 ppg. He then joined the Clippers in 2012-13 and played in all 82 games while averaging 4.0 points per game, and that was the last time he played for a professional basketball team.
Personal issues with his family, a friend dyeing from a flesh eating disease attributed with drug use , including an pending divorce has proved to have adverse effects on Odom’s emotional capacity as he appeared to reach the end of the road on October 13, 2015. 10/13/15 : 35-year-old Lamar Odom arrived at the Love Ranch South Saturday and was partying with the girls for days. According to a source at the Ranch, Lamar was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra and reportedly using cocaine.
Later that evening, a woman went into Odom’s room in the VIP suites and found him unconscious. According to several news outlets, the woman began screaming for the manager — who called 911. The manager rolled Lamar over on his side and saw “mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose and mouth.”
According to the NYE County Sheriff, the call came in at 3:15 PM for an unresponsive male at the Love Ranch. Paramedics treated Odom and he was taken to a nearby hospital.
10/15/15: Lamar Odom’s condition has deteriorated, and doctors are now telling the family the longer he remains in the condition he’s in the less likely it is that he will recover.
10/16/15: Lamar Odom was able to breathe on his own, with the help of a mask rather than a ventilator . Very good news as his situation looked bleek a day earlier.
10/17/15: Lamar Odom has had strong improvement in his condition in the last day and its great to know that as of today he’s breathing completely on his own.
According to news outlets, hospital witnesses say Lamar has been taken completely off the ventilator, but he’s still wearing an oxygen mask to increase his oxygen levels. He has been responding to doctors both physically and verbally today.
10/18/2015: Lamar is improving daily, as he is now talking and texting. Officials have sent blood samples to be tested hoping to find out what drugs may have played a role in Odom’s condition. All indications appear that Odom will recover.
