Sports Unbiased Staff G.F.R. Analysis
Ben Buchanan- The 2015 NBA MIP broke out as one of the premier wing players in the league last year. Butler was always known for playing good steady defense, and his offensive game was a second thought, but this year he improved dramatically. Butler averaged 20 points per game last year, a career high. He also improved with high stats in categories such as steals, blocks, assists and rebounds.
He was rewarded for his breakout year this off-season by receiving a 5-year max deal from the Bulls. Butler is a very good fit with Derrick Rose in the backcourt when he’s healthy, unfortunately, Rose is rarely is healthy so Butlers high level of play is very important when playing next to players like Aaron Brooks.
Jr. Williams – Arguably the most reliable player in a Bulls uniform last season, Jimmy Butler quickly emerged as one of the top shooting guards of 2015 and the best player for the Bulls, a team that missed their franchise player (Derrick Rose) who played just 61 games over the span of two seasons.
Butler is one of the premier perimeter defenders. He elevated his offensive game to new heights, as he improved his scoring from 13 ppg to 20 ppg. Yes, 2015 was a career year for Butler, who made his first All-Star appearance, finished the season as the league’s most improved player, and saw his name among the NBA elites vying for the league MVP. Not bad for a player who was once the team’s third scoring option.
