The Cleveland Cavalier protected home court with a game 3 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Under the leadership of LeBron James, the Cavs dominated throughout the first three quarters of the game and limited the Warriors to a series low 37 points at halftime. The Cavs lead by as much as 20 points, however, the Warriors would climb back into the game during the fourth quarter to bring the game to within a single point. Stephen Curry (27 points 6 assist) found his stroke as he shot 7-13 from the three-point line and dropped 17 points in the fourth quarter. Both teams exchanged shots, however, it was Matthew Dellavedova (20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists) and LeBron James‘ (40 point, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists) superior play that ultimately allowed the Cavs to walk away with the victory in front of a capacity crowd in Quicken Loans Arena.
The Cavs will look to take a 3-1 lead as game 4 is set to kick-off on Thursday. Team S.U. recaps game 3 and provides their Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 4 Predictions.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 4 Predictions
Keith Rivas (Editor) – We saw Stephen Curry try to rally the troops but in the end Cleveland was just enough to squeeze out a win in Game 3 of the Finals.
Moving forward, this goes right in line with my previous prediction of the Cavs jumping out to a 3-1 series lead before the Warriors find their zone in Game 5, 6, and of course in 7 where I see them being crowned.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
LeBron James gave us Part II of his “I Have A Team” speech and it was pretty epic, there’s no getting around that.
With 123 points in the first three games of the NBA Finals, James is now owner of the most points in the Finals through that game span in league history.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 4 Predictions – That’s cute and all, but at the end of the day that doesn’t give you a ring. Four wins does. Can you hear me now, LeBron? Cavs will take Game 4 mightily, winning by upwards of a dozen. But don’t worry, the Warriors are coming.
Prediction: Cavs 99, Warriors 85
Jr. Williams (NBA Editor) – Another impressive win by a team that continues to improve game after the game, yet no one seems to quite notice. Yes people I’m talking about the Cleveland Cavaliers– a team with all the odds stacked up against them, yet they continue to perform with a championship pedigree. LeBron James is putting up monumental numbers, the only question is can he continue to average a near trip-double on a nightly basis. I honestly don’t think the Warriors have an answer for James and the Cavs, as this team has found a way to defensively demoralize what was supposed to be the best team in the Western Conference.
While it is true the Warriors made a run in the fourth quarter, I believe a poor lineup selection and the Cavs taking their foot off the gas played a huge factor in the Warriors ability to claw back into the game. Matthew Dellavedova continues to impress and I think he’s a huge factor in the Cavs ability to take a commanding 3-1 lead.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 4 Predictions – The Golden State hype continues to lead the blind astray. For some odd reason people are expecting this team to obliterate the Cavs as if they have some new defensive and offensive scheme that will carry them over the threshold. No, the Warriors have no answer for LeBron James and their offense continues to thrive around three-point shots. This Warriors team has zero inside scoring and continues to struggle when the game is at a slow pace. In game three we will see the emergence of J.R. Smith and James Jones as the Cavs look to take one step closer to the winning the 2015 NBA title.
Cavs win game 4, final score 99-94
Steve Turner (NBA Contributor) – Extremely rough game 3 for the Golden State Warriors. The Splash Brothers just couldn’t really get shots to sink and LeBron James was dictating the game on both ends of the court for Cleveland. Yet again, Matthew Dellavedova had an amazing NBA Finals game and showed tons of energy in game 3. He was diving for loose balls, passing the ball, and showed up with some impressive scoring. More importantly, Delly didn’t let Steph Curry get hot during the game.
The Warriors crumbled in the 3rd quarter. At one point, the Cavs led by 20 points and it seemed like the game was just about done. All season long though, the Warriors proved that they can go on their runs and cut the deficit back in only a matter of time. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they gave up a lot of good possessions and couldn’t capitalize on the game 3 comeback.
The strangest part of game 3 was the way Steph Curry was playing. He just couldn’t find the basket in the 1st three quarters. During the 4th quarter though, Curry found his stroke and was lighting the Cavs up from three-point land. The Warriors need Steph Curry to come out guns blazing in game 4, and their role players need to step up to the occasion.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 4 Predictions – Harrison Barnes needs to show up in game 4. He just seemed lost in game 3 and the Warriors need him out there contributing. I don’t think the Warriors are going down without a fight. This team has proved time and time again that they are amazing offensively and can shut teams down defensively. I’m taking Golden State in game 4. I hope they can rise to the occasion and make this Finals even more interesting than it already is.
