(Golden State Warriors)
In a tough and gritty game 1 battle, the Golden State Warriors walked away with a close victory at home to take a 1-0 lead in the 2015 NBA finals. LeBron James (44 points) carried the Cavs on his back as he continues to make his presence known in the post area as game 1 was an all-out display of iso’s for he and teammate Kyrie Irving. Klay Thompson found his stroke from the three-point line as the Warriors answered back late in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime. The Cavs couldn’t find a basket during the extra period as the Warriors ran away with the victory, final score 100-108. The Warriors snapped the Cavs seven game playoffs winning streak and continue to play superb basketball at home.
With Kyrie Irving reaggravating his knee injury, the Cavs appear to be against the ropes early. Can the Cavs fight back into the series in a must win game 2? Team S.U. recaps and debates.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors NBA Finals Game 2 Predictions
Jr. Williams (NBA Editor) – The Warriors started the game cold, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson couldn’t find the basket during the first quarter, fortunately, the Warriors have a excellent bench that helped them climb back into the game. The Cavaliers played a solid half-court set, they didn’t get much out of their bench offensively but defensively I think they got the job done. LeBron James‘ offensive aggressiveness versus Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green was exactly what I expected to see and it really helped set the tone for the Cavs.
Not taking anything away from the Cavs, but the Warriors displayed exceptional ball movement and I’m not surprised they walked away with the victory. Game 1 came down to the wire but could have gone either way as both teams fought hard up until the end of the 4th quarter. In overtime the Cavs hit a brick wall as Stephen Curry sank four crucial free-throws which helped to put the game out of reach for the Cavs.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors NBA Finals Game 2 Predictions– Looks like the Cavs need to dig deep in game 2. I expect the bench to play harder and LeBron to pass the ball more. Cavs will win game 2 with a balanced offensive attack.
Keith Rivas (Editor) – Well, we saw what we were expecting in Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals — sort of.
The Splash Bros. were back in business when it mattered most (which just happened to be overtime), and Golden State now owns a 1-0 series lead. Now the focus will shift completely to LeBron James.
After all, this is what this year’s championship has been all about — right?
James has been trying to end the city of Cleveland’s 51-year championship drought for about as long as I’ve been trying to win the lottery.
And guess what? Seems like I’ve done ten times better at my job.
James has to get a win in Oracle Arena in order to bring home the ring that would mean the most to him — and the most to professional sport’s most desperate location.
In Game 2, I expect a lot of the same.
James poured in 44 points while Curry & Thompson pitched in 47 combined. The crowd was a factor on and off in Game 1, but I feel like now that the Warriors have taken care of their opening jitters it will be the ultimate x-factor before heading back to Cavs territory.
And Golden State has got to win Game 2 with more fire than they did to open the series — or else Cleveland is going to give them all hell afterwards.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors NBA Finals Game 2 Predictions – Golden State 101, Cleveland 100
Steve Turner (NBA Contributor) – Unbelievable game 1 in the 2015 NBA Finals! It went down to the wire but Steph Curry and Warriors managed to outlast the Cavs. LeBron James had an amazing game. His team dominated on the boards in the first half and the Warriors looked sloppy offensively. Once the second half started though, things started going the Warrior’s way. The true unsung hero to the Warrior’s win was Andre Iguodala. He came up with some clutch points off the bench and did a great job on guarding King James.
Of course the league’s MVP, Steph Curry, handled business, hitting incredible three-pointers and clutch shots. This Warriors team has only lost three games on their home court all season. That is a huge component to this teams success in this series. It’s not looking good for the Cavs though. Kyrie Irving left in the 4th quarter with a knee injury and he did not look very good. This is the difference maker in this series.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors NBA Finals Game 2 Predictions – I’m taking GSW in game 2. Although they were off to a rough start in the beginning of game 1, they clearly have the upper hand in this match-up. Steph Curry is too much for Cleveland’s defense and without Kyrie Irving, Cleveland’s offense is on trouble.
Sauping R. Arguello (NBA Contributor) – Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals wasn’t exactly the lopsided game I predicted, but nonetheless, the Golden State Warriors took the win in overtime (108-100) in exciting fashion. The Warriors came out flat in the first quarter trailing by as many as 14 points as their deep bench rescued them and got them back in the game. I stated LeBron James needed 30+ points to keep the Cavs in the game and he delivered with a Finals career-high as he scored 44 points. Kyrie Irving also played well, scoring 23 points before going down in overtime seemingly reaggravating his left knee injury. He came out of the game and went to the locker room limping in clear discomfort. The Golden State backcourt combined for 47 points (Steph Curry 26 pts, Klay Thompson 21 pts).
I don’t see James averaging 40+ points for the series and I also don’t see Irving playing like he did (due to injury) the rest of the series. Those two factors helped the Cleveland Cavaliers force the game to overtime but it wasn’t enough to steal the win and gain home court advantage.
Cavaliers vs. Warriors NBA Finals Game 2 Predictions – I see the Warriors coming out more confident and loose in Game 2 and taking a commanding 2-0 series lead heading to Cleveland. Predicted score Warriors 115 Cavaliers 94.
