Lead by a 34 point game from Stephen Curry, the Warriors now have an early 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Playoffs. James Harden lead all scorers for the Rockets with 28 points as his team fought to bring the game within a few points in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, but It was too little to late as the Warriors sealed the deal, final score 110-106.
In what could be a crucial game 2, the Rockets have a chance to even the series 1-1 with a win on the road. Can the Rockets claw back into the series or will the Warriors maintain their home-court dominance? Which team will win game 2? Team S.U. debates.
Rockets vs. Warriors game 2 Prediction
Keith Rivas (Editor) –The Rockets came out swinging trying to take Game 1 from the Warriors but fell four points short of forcing overtime and five points short of a road win.
But thankfully it’s a seven game series.
Steph Curry, as always, was ridiculous and we should expect more of the same in Game 2. Looking at how Houston played on the road in against the Clippers (hint: it was a disaster), I don’t think they’ll win Game 2.
But they will win the series.
Game 2 winner: GS (111-110)
Steve Turner (NBA Contributor) – The first game of the Western Conference Finals lived up to the hype. Although the Warriors came out on top, James Harden had an amazing game. The Rockets were up at one point by a healthy amount and the Warriors managed to do what they do best and that’s make a run to get back in the game. The Warriors are a deadly team and overwhelm their opponents with a massive amount of threes.
Steph Curry had an outstanding game, just like the league’s MVP should. There was an unsung hero helping the Warriors in game 1 though. Harrison Barnes really had an impressive game. He had a great night offensively and handled whatever challenge he had defensively. The Rockets may be in trouble. Dwight Howard is questionable for game 2 due to the knee injury he suffered in game 1. That’s yet another huge loss for Houston.
Prediction – I don’t think Houston is going to be able to beat the Warriors at the Oracle, especially if Dwight can’t playing. I’m taking the Warriors, 116-110.
Jr. Williams (NBA Editor) – The Warriors did what they were supposed to do in game 1 which is protect their home floor, however, the Rockets’ defense was lackluster as they allowed Stephen Curry to obtain open shots and torch them for over 30 points. Even after the Warriors appeared to have dominated the Rockets through the last three quarters, they barely won the game, so you have to think what if the Rockets play better basketball in game 2 and limit Curry offensively, they might just steal a game in Oracle arena.
Prediction – I think the Warriors are fools gold, and if the Rockets come out with a sense of urgency, they can win this series. In game 2, I think the Rockets play better defense and ultimately win the game, final score 108-106 – Rockets.
