The 2014 NBA season has been nothing but a treat. First-time head coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors has the bay area battalion looking sharper than ever as they just recently surpassed a team record by allotting 50 or more wins in back to back seasons for the first team ever.
We also have been given the gift of the glorious Atlanta Hawks whose rise to stardom and continuous infamy feels like a bad dream but is very, very real. Really though, who would’ve thought a team with such a weak start to the season could catch the kind of fire they’ve got burning?
If you were to combine the total number of losses at home that the Hawks and the Warriors — the league’s two best teams this year — have, you would end up with just one past how many you can count on one hand.
That’s including both teams.
While those two teams have been the cream of the crop, the glory in between is not few and far between. Oklahoma City’s recent rise to power led by a better-than-ever Russell Westbrook has the Thunder back in contention as arguably the most dangerous eight seed in NBA playoff history.
Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers promised a blooming and pissed off style of play we have yet to see from him — my guess (and hopes, of course) is that he’s saving the phenom and prestige for the post season.
But maybe that’s just me.
All things considered, it’s never too early to look ahead at what the near and foreseeable future holds for professional basketball. That being said, here’s a look at Sports Unbiased’s 2015 NBA Mock Draft of Round 1.
