Right now, somewhere, Mark Cuban is dancing a joyful dance as the upcoming NBA season gets closer and closer. Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks had an offseason to remember after stealing Chandler Parsons away from the Houston Rockets, and it may have very well been the most underrated signing of the offseason. This is the same guy who was second on the Cleveland Cavaliers wishlist behind LeBron James. Yes, THAT LeBron James. The return of former Mavericks center Tyson Chandler, a player from their 2011 championship team, will help Dallas to become one of the best teams in the league this season. But just how far can this team go?

My Starting Five

This Dallas Mavericks team looks scary good with the amount of additions they made in the offseason. Raymond Felton, Jameer Nelson, Tyson Chandler, and Chandler Parsons are all great additions to this team, not to mention other signees. Nelson and Felton will be a very serviceable backcourt as Monta Ellis, Parsons, and Nowitzki split the scoring load. Tyson Chandler was an integral piece on the Dallas championship roster and will be able to slide in smoothly with his former team. This is the same team that took the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs to 7 games as an 8 seed last year. Rick Carlisle will have a prime opportunity at another championship ring.
The worst thing to happen to this team over the offseason was the departure of Vince Carter. Carter was one of the best players on the team, despite his age, and was a huge factor in the playoff series against the Spurs. It may take a short while for this team to gain chemistry with all the new additions and Dirk Nowitzki continues to get older. Other than all that, there isn’t many bad things going on in the city of Dallas.
