Saratoga Race Course is a 350-acre racetrack complex. Saratoga Race Course is affectionately referred to as the “Graveyard of Champions.” The nicknames comes from the long list of great horses, Triple Crown winners and the like that have fallen when they failed to cross the finish line in first. A contributor to the nickname is due to the major meet being one that starts after the running of the Triple Crown series. However, the nickname is not reserved for just Triple Crown runners. The list is long and the nickname is warranted.
