Over the last few weeks here at Sports Unbiased, the writers have been tasked with ranking their favorite single pro wrestlers of all-time and their favorite tag teams of all-time. This week we finish up with the all-time top stables.
What is a stable? A stable is a group of wrestlers. Unlike singles or tag-teams, stables work together towards a common goal. They could simply be a group of wrestlers all managed by the same guy – such as the Heenan Family in the 1980s or groups such as the 4 Horsemen in the NWA/WCW.
What makes a great stable? First you have to have great wrestlers in the mix such as Ric Flair, Bret Hart, or Triple H. Then you have to have the right attitude – if they’re heels they need to cause destruction wherever they go or if they’re faces they truly have to be good guys. Finally you need to be able to sell the gimmick. Two of the greatest stables in history, DX in the WWE and the NWO in the WCW sold their gimmicks so well that the TV ratings on Monday nights were the best in cable history.
This week the writers (Rich Stowe, Adam Solowiei, Kimani Gregoire, JR Wiliams, and Chevy Daniels) had to rank their top-3 stables of all-time and explain why. Then each vote received points – three points for a first place vote, two points for second, and one point for third. The votes were tallied and the stables were all ranked.
There ended up being six stables ranked. I think you will be surprised at the final results. When you’re done reading the rankings be sure to comment and tell us how you think we did, tell us your top-3 stables and be sure to vote in the poll at the end to decide the greatest stable of all-time!
