Impact News: Texas Rangers Ace Yu Darvish will undergo Tommy John Surgery and will miss the entire 2015 season.
Short Term Impact: The Texas Rangers will need to find a way to get through 2015 without the unequivocal ace of their rotation. The almost guarantee of 16-20 wins is lost and there might not be a replacement to help this late in the game. Their default No.1 is returning from injury as well which is obviously not a good sign.
Long Term Prediction: Yu Darvish will be 29 when he returns from Tommy John surgery and have two years left on his current contract. He will need to return better than ever if he expects to lock in another large deal. The Rangers will struggle until his return.
Dexter Holland, the default No.1, is returning from injury and the rest of the rotation is a group of starters looking to prove themselves. In a division with the Mariners, Angles, and Athletics, the Rangers can expect to struggle and fall out of contention by the All-Star break.
The Rangers should look for a replacement throughout all of 2015 with the expectation that Darvish will not be the same upon return. If they get lucky and he is solid upon return then the more the merrier. If not, they will be prepared for life without Darvish. Life in Texas will be tough this summer.
