The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Colorado Rockies 9-4 at Coors Field on Saturday but that is not what will be remembered. What will be remembered is one of, if not the craziest plays of 2014 that occurred in the third inning of the defeat.
Rockies pitcher Christian Friedrich uncorked a bases loaded wild pitch scoring the runner from third base when catcher Michael McKenry committed a throwing error which allowed Mark Reynolds to score. From that point it all went downhill fast. Friedrich gathered the wild throw and when he nonchalantly walked back towards the plate Jean Segura took advantage of the moment and scored all the way from first.
It is was the type of play that a Little League coach would be upset about let alone a professional coach like Walt Weiss. Weiss summed it up the only way anyone could.
“We got taken advantage of on that play.”
There was not really anything else for Weiss or any player on the Rockies to say at that point. One thing is sure, the Rockies looked BAD during the play and that could end up being the worst play of 2014. Check it out below.
