L.A. Lakers trade news: The Lakers have sent point guard Steve Blake to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for guards Kent Bazemore and MarShon Brooks on Wednesday night. The Warriors add much needed depth at the back-up point guard position as the team looks to advance deeper into the post season. Blake is veteran guard who could come off the bench and provide Golden State with another shooting treat from the perimeter.
Brooklyn Nets trade News: The Brooklyn Nets traded Jason Terry and Reggie Evans to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for guard Marcus Thornton. In limited playing time for the Nets, Terry has struggled offensively while Evans has fallen deeper and deeper out of the rotation and has played very few games this season. Evans is an exceptional rebounder and a solid defender who may have found a place to shine. The Kings have acquired two veteran players who can provide leadership and experience to a young up and coming team.
The Nets on the other hand, have added a highly capable scorer in Thornton who could provide solid minutes at the back-up point guard position. Thornton, now 26 years old, is averaging 8.3 points and one assist in 24 minutes per game this season.
“Marcus is a proven scorer in this league,” Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement. “He is a young talent who will help us in the backcourt.”
