Both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will miss Sunday’s clash with Chelsea according to Manchester United manager David Moyes.
According to Eurosport, Rooney aggravated an existing groin injury back on New Year’s Day against Tottenham. Despite the club’s best efforts to get the striker fit in time for the trip to Stamford Bridge, it was determined during training that he just was not ready.
Meanwhile Van Persie’s recovery from thigh injury is a little behind schedule, meaning United will be without their top two goalscorers at London on Sunday.
Manchester United is currently seventh in the English Premier League and nine points back of second place Chelsea.
