The saga I like to call “As the AROD Turns” could be ending its newest chapter this weekend. Individuals with knowledge of the case, speaking under a condition of anonymity, have told the Associated Press that arbitrator Fredric Horowitz could make his announcement this weekend From September 30th until November 20th, Horowitz heard 12 sessions before adjuring to deliberate.
Rodriguez is appealing the initial 211 game suspension handed down by Major League Baseball for violating the league Performance Enhancing Drug Policy. That suspension was directly related to baseball’s investigation of the South Florida anti-aging clinic, Biogenesis.
Alex Rodriguez’s legal team has made it known that if the arbitrator does not rule favorably that they plan to take the case to federal court. The Yankees are watching this as close as anyone. They need a third baseman and arguably more important they need his $20+ million to stay off the books in 2013 to ensure they stay under the luxury tax threshold.
Will his suspension be overturned? It looks like we will find out the fate of Alex Rodriguez this weekend.
