Sloane Stephens has hired Paul Annacone as her full-time coach in 2014.
Stephens, ranked number 12 in the world (the second highest ranked American after Serena Williams) decided to go with the legendary coach after a five-week trial during the offseason.
Annacone had recently split with Roger Federer in October after working with the 17-time Grand Slam champion for over three years together. He has also worked in the past with former tennis players Tim Henman of Great Britain and most notably Pete Sampras. He will be working with a female player for the first time in his coaching career.
According to TENNIS.com, Annacone will be with Stephens at all the Grand Slam tournaments (beginning with the Australian Open which begins on January 13) as well as several other events in 2014.
