The biggest news out of Japanese baseball lately has been whether or not the Rakuten Golden Eagles would post star pitcher Tanaka or not. Well it appears they will keep Tanaka at home and add a former Major League Baseball All-Star in the form of Kevin Youkilis. According to Nippon Professional Baseball Tracker’s Patrick Newman it appears solid that the Golden Eagles will be signing Youkilis.
When asked to confirm the report, Kevin Youkilis agent Joe Bick did in fact back up the report. According to Bick, Youkilis believes going to Japan for a year to play baseball with his family is a “life experience that was too good to pass up.” Youkilis gained prominence for his unorthodox batting stance while playing for the Boston Red Sox but was also a member of the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees.
