The Atlanta Braves have officially announced the signing of former Chicago White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd. Floyd is coming off of Tommy John Surgery. However prior to last year’s injury, Floyd did average 190 innings per year the five years prior. For his career Floyd is 70-70 with an ERA of 4.48 in 10 Major League Baseball seasons.
According to Jerry Crasnick of EPSN.com the deal is for one year and $4 million. There is the possibility of earning another $4.5 million is performance bonuses and a few specific roster bonus escalator’s. Floyd will be in the mix that already includes Mike Minor, Julio Teheran, Kris Medlen, Brandon Beachy and Alex Wood as possible answers in the Braves rotation.
