Eddie Monterroso, a security guard at the Los Angeles Lakers’ Training Facility has been accused of stealing gift cards and not one but two NBA championship rings that have been missing for more than a week. The El Segundo Police have charged Monterroso with felony grand theft and burglary after recovering the 2009 and 2010 NBA Championship rings from Monterroso’s home in Inglewood, CA.
Police also recovered $6,000 in stolen gift cards from major retailers such as Macys’ and Target. According to Lt. Jaime Bermudez, a spokesman for the El Segundo Police Department, Monterroso used the gift cards to purchase video games and game consoles. Police also believe Monterroso sold some of the gift cards.
