Week 11 of the 2015 NFL Regular Season is upon us and some key teams are on byes this week such as the Steelers, Saints, Giants, and Browns. That means there are some key WRs out this week like Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Martavis Bryant, and Brandin Cooks. If you need wide receivers this week, I have some key waiver wire pickups to consider. I will even give you a solid running back as well.
WR, San Diego Chargers
Stevie Johnson is a great play this week against a very weak Kansas City secondary. The Kansas City defense has given up an average of 28.7 fantasy PPG to wide receivers this year. In fact, the least they have given up all season was 18 to a struggling Detroit offense. You can make the argument that the Chiefs secondary played a great game against the Broncos last week, but that was against Peyton Manning who looks like he has nothing left in the tank. Stevie Johnson is the number one wide receiver on the team with arguably the best, most consistent quarterback in Phillip Rivers. While Keenan Allen was out, Johnson had a mediocre game as the number two wide receiver putting up seven catches for 68 yards. Now that Malcom Floyd is banged up, Johnson moves into the number one receiver slot where I think he’s going to have a big impact in Sunday’s game.
Ted Ginn Jr.
WR, Carolina Panthers
Another wide receiver that I believe is going to do well this week is Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. He is the Carolina Panthers deep threat and Cam Newton, the team’s quarterback, has one of the biggest arms in the NFL. The Washington Redskins defense has given up 24.6 fantasy PPG this year to wide receivers including 33 to a weak Philly wide receiver group. One concern is that Ted Ginn Jr. has been dropping a lot of passes this season, but Cam still throws to him, and you have to imagine against a weak Washington secondary that Cam is going to let a few of them loose.
RB, Tennessee Titans
DeAngelo Williams, Mark Ingram, and some other key running backs are on a bye this week which opens the door to find a quality pickup to fill in. Antonio Andrews is going to come up big for the Tennessee Titans in week 11. Andrews rushed for 88 yards on 19 carries against a weak New Orleans defense formerly coached by Rob Ryan. Andrews then struggled against a very good Carolina defense where he rushed for a sad eight yards on 11 carries. We’ve seen both the good and bad versions of Antonio Andrews, but I believe we’ll see the good side of him this week going up against the Jacksonville defense on Thursday night.
