If January brings excitement of the New Year to a normal person, for a football fan it brings the excitement of the mid-season transfer window. The transfer season that lasts for 30 days is key for teams to make necessary adjustments in their roster and prepare for the second half. Here is our prediction of possible deals that will be made by Premier League clubs Arsenal and Aston Villa during this transfer window.
Arsenal

Arsenal has shown its intention to spend bigger in recent transfer windows. They will be once again looking to do that as they are in desperate search for a midfielder and a striker. A defender will also be on Arsene Wenger’s shortlist.
Reported Targets: Lars Bender, Virgil Van Dijk, Adrien Rabiot, Jackson Martinez, Sebastian Giovinco, Benedikt Howedes
Possible Arrival: Sebastian Giovinco
The Italian is out of contract in the summer. He will be available for cheap. The fast, tricky striker will be one of the players that Wenger looks at in order to solve his goal-scoring problems.
Other Possible Arrivals: Krystian Bielik, Virgil Van Dijk, Paulo Dybala
Possible Departure: Lucas Podolski
The German international has failed to make the sort of impact that Arsene Wenger hoped. Podolski struggled to break into Arsenal starting 11. Even though he was reported to be happy to stay at Arsenal, there are reports saying a lot of clubs are preparing a move to sign him up. He already confirmed that he will not move to Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham after it was reported that North London rivals are lining up a move to sign him. Juventus are said to be interested in signing him as well. He may be tempted to accept should an offer come from the Italian champions.
Other Possible Departures: Santi Cazorla — I think it will be hard for him to resist advancement from Atletico Madrid.
