The Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 on Wednesday night before a packed crowd at Fenway Park to win the World Series, their third World Series title in nine years. No other team has won more titles in the last ten years (2004, 2007, and now 2013). The Red Sox just became the first team in history to go from 93+ losses to World Champions in one year. This is the greatest turnaround of all time. The whole team played great and they richly deserved the title they won. In other words, chemistry was born and the team played well together all year long. The Red Sox only won 69 games last year. How did they turn it around...

The Houston Texans travel to Kansas City to play the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday at 3:25 PM CST. Arrowhead is one of the loudest stadiums in the country and this will be a hard fought contest for a Texans team that is in the midst of a four game losing streak and only two wins this year. Both of which were come from behind victories. The Chiefs have yet to lose in the 2013 NFL Season and currently sit at 6-0 and are the only unbeaten team besides the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs defense has allowed the fewest points in the NFL by a comfortable margin (10.8 a game), have the most sacks by an even wider gap (31, nine more than...

Week 5 in the NFL brings a very important matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football in San Francisco. Both teams come in with an underachieving record of 2-2. I don’t think anyone predicted that these two teams would be struggling like they are - as many football analysts and fans predicted that they would both be playing in Super Bowl XLVIII. San Francisco started the season out strong by beating the Green Bay Packers at home and then went on a two game skid. They lost to the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts and only scored 10 points total in those two games. The 49ers came back...

The Dallas Cowboys travel to San Diego this weekend to play the Chargers. This is a tale of two teams headed in different directions. The Cowboys (2-1) come in with an offense that is booming and that put up 31 points against the St. Louis Rams last Sunday. Their only loss came against the Kansas City Chiefs, but that game could have been won if there was better clock management by the Cowboys' coaching staff. The Chargers (1-2) are struggling on both sides of the ball and can’t seem to get things going consistently. The Chargers fell to the Tennessee Titans late in the game last Sunday. The Chargers were up by four and the Titans had...

The Houston Texans (2-0) travel to Baltimore this week to take on the Super Bowl Champion Ravens (1-1). This has all the makings of a great game, however, it all depends on which teams will show up. Will it be the Ravens who fell flat on their faces out of the gate in week one to lose to the Broncos in Denver by a score of 49-27 and giving up seven touchdown passes to Peyton Manning or, the Ravens that came back and scored two touchdowns in week two to beat the woeful Cleveland Browns? On the other side of the ball, you have the Houston Texans who looked terrible in the first half during the Monday Night Football opener against the...

The New York Jets are feeling confident in their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as well as they should be. Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith was able to drive his team down the field with a little help for a game-winning field goal as the Jets fought back to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 18-17 on Sunday. That help came from a penalty on Buccaneers Lavonte David. Trailing 17-15, Smith scrambled for 10 yards and was shoved while he was out of bounds by David. The 15-yard penalty put the ball at the Buccaneers 30, and Jets Kicker Nick Folk won it by kicking a 48 yard field goal with 2 seconds remaining. After their exciting come from...

T.J. Yates is the incumbent second stringer for the Houston Texans but Case Keenum -- who's familiar to Houstonians from his record-setting days at the University of Houston -- is making this a true training camp competition after spending last season on the practice squad. "It was fun playing football tonight. It's been a long time since I've gone out and operated and moved the football like I did tonight," he said. Keenum was the highlight in the second half for the Texans. The second-year quarterback came off the bench behind Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates and led the offense on two touchdown drives that won the game. The second...

Tom Brady’s brilliant NFL career, secures him enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. -- and he’s not finished yet, or is he? Sure, he will continue to pad his statistics before entrance into the Hall of Fame, but will he lead his New England Patriots to another Super Bowl? And win? My thinking is that he still can. Brady’s NFL accomplishments are impressive. In Brady's eleven seasons as a starter (remember that he was injured all of the 2008 season), the Patriots have earned trips to the Super Bowl in five of them, winning three. He has also won two Super Bowl MVP awards, has been selected to eight Pro Bowls,...
