In 1951 Bobby Thomson hit a home run that won the National League Pennant for the New York Giants. It became known as ‘The Shot Heard round the World.”  Just listen to Russ Hodges on the call. If that isn’t excitement I do not know what is. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMa5eZE5ilE YouTube video courtesy of brandonbwarner...

On March 2, 1962 against the New York Knicks, Wilt Chamberlain made history. He became the first and only NBA player to score 100 points in a single game while playing for the Philadelphia Warriors. The game was played at the Hershey Sports Arena in Hershey Pennsylvania.  That was a magical season for the all-time great as he went on to average an astonishing 50.4 points per game and also had a 78 point outburst earlier that season. The final score of that game was 169-147. That is just insane; it makes the NBA All-Star game look like a defensive struggle. The Knicks even attempted to foul other Warriors in a futile attempt...

Considered by some to be greatest home run of all-time, Bill Mazeroski connected on a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of game seven against Yankee pitcher Ralph Terry to win the 1960 World Series. This was the first World Series ending home run in the history of Major League Baseball. Heading into the 1960 World Series the New York Yankees managed by Casey Stengel were heavily favored to win the title. However, apparently the Yankees, media and the rest of the country forgot to tell that to the Pittsburgh Pirates. It all came down to Mazeroski’s home run and a moment that will always be remembered as one of,...

Without a doubt this home run is one of the most iconic moments in Red Sox, baseball, and sports history. It occurred during the bottom of the 12th inning against the Cincinnati Reds pitcher Pat Darcy forcing a game seven. On the second pitch Fisk drilled a ball down the left field line and begged the ball to stay fair. It did, bouncing off the foul pole. The irony is that it took a unique situation to even bring this moment to all the viewers at home. Prior to this iconic home run all cameramen were forced to follow the flight of the ball. They never watched the reaction of the person at the plate. It was just...

Revised: 7/13/2020 The US Patent office has officially removed the trademark protection previously held by the Redskins on the grounds that it is disparaging to Native Americans. From the 2-1 ruling the following was released.  "Petitioners have found a preponderance of evidence that a substantial amount of Native Americans found the term Redskins to be disparaging when used in connection with professional football," the ruling said. "While this may reveal differing opinions with the community, it does not negate the opinions of those who find it disparaging." Original Piece: The Washington Redskins continue to come under fire and...

The debate existed before but now with Super Bowl LI in the books and another Super Bowl title for Tom Brady in the books, the debate is gaining momentum. No person of their right mind would question whether or not these two quarterbacks are great but the debate exists in relation to the greatest of all-time. Other names come up like Dan Marino, Peyton Manning or others but the real hot button topic is between the most decorated Super Bowl winning quarterbacks in NFL history. San Francisco 49er fans will lobby for their guy. New England Patriot fans will back their franchise greatest quarterback. What about the rest of the...

Self-promotion is something the NFL has absolutely mastered over the years. It can be ball deflation, the NFL Draft, or mini-camps but no matter what the NFL is king and always a discussion point. The king is set to make its thunderous return to the apex of the sports world. The ritual that is fandom, tailgating, and fantasy football is back to rescue the masses once again. Training camps are beginning and the nations of faithful fans all awake with the hope that this is “their year.” Its football season, let everyone rejoice. Who will make the playoffs? Who will win the Super Bowl? The crack staff and contributors to Sports...

Fantasy Football season is almost here. Fans and participants are locked in their caves, offices or perusing their phones on a regular basis in preparation for their upcoming draft. Rankings and cheat sheets can be found around every corner but many take the data to far. Some people just want to know who the best options are at each position. While we can go much deeper here at Sports Unbiased, this cheat sheet is intended to cover the must haves and must know on draft day. Let’s get to it. League Scoring Basis Offense: Quarterbacks (QB), Running Backs (RB), Wide Receivers (WR), Tight Ends (TE) 6 pts per rushing or receiving TD, -2 pt...

Fantasy football season is right around the corner and it is never too soon to gather as much valuable data as possible.  Each person, stat or edge that you can find will go a long way in determining who you should draft and how to structure you team in hopes of winning your local, regional, or national leagues. Below is my breakdown of who I believe will be the top fantasy quarterbacks for the 2016 season. Obviously much of this data is transferable to numerous different league configurations but I wanted to ensure clarity up front. Let’s get to it and see how the breakdown begins. League Scoring Rules   Offense (Quarterbacks,...
