It can be argued that the final eight of the 2013/14 Champions League is the most star-studded that we have ever seen. There is no “Cinderella” club this year, and no slaying of any of the Goliaths during the round of 16 (Sports Unbiased correctly went chalk for all the round of 16 ties).
The quarterfinal draw – which was made last week – has given us four interesting matchups, headlined by holders Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United (though it is tough to call United “elite” based on their performance this season).
The first legs will be played on April 1-2 with the return legs one week later (April 8-9). The club with the higher goal aggregate (or more goals scored over the two legs) will move on to the semifinals.
Here is the fixture for the Champions League quarterfinals:
|April 8||Borussia Dortmund||Real Madrid|
|April 8||Chelsea||Paris Saint-Germain|
|April 9||Bayern Munich||Manchester United|
|April 2||Paris Saint-Germain||Chelsea|
|April 2||Real Madrid||Borussia Dortmund|
|April 1||Manchester United||Bayern Munich|
|April 9||Atletico Madrid||Barcelona|
|April 1||Barcelona||Atletico Madrid|
So will the favorites continue to hold serve or will there be any upsets? Let’s see which four clubs will advance to the semifinals.
