Welcome to this week’s Writers’ Block.  Joining us this week are Sports Unbiased writers Rich Stowe, Sam Wright, Fred Phillips, J.R. Williams, Kimani Gregoire, and Kureen Paige.

This week’s topic is:  The Worst Number 1 picks in Sports History.  The writers were asked to rank the top-3 players (from any sport) who they consider to be the worst number 1 picks in history.  The only restriction was they had to be drafted number one.  I’m sure you are thinking who you would pick – does your list cross sports or is it solely one sport (NBA or NFL)?  Read who our writers have picked and why they picked whom they did, then please vote in the poll and let us know who your top-3 would be in the comments.

UP NEXT: Number 3

  1. Pervis Ellison was actually a good NBA player. Was he great? Of course not , but in no shape or form can he be compare to JaMarcus Russel and Kwame Brown, they both were pretty bad. I agree, Jordan is on of the worst GM’s of all time.

  2. No Steve Emtman? Pervis Ellison? Shawn Abner? What a hard chore. Unfortunately there was a pretty deep list of guys that could qualify. Shows that the executives are not as smart as we might think they are. LOL I would agree that Brien Taylor could arguably be the biggest bust. A swing and miss for sure. JaMarcus “my grandma runs the 40 faster” Russell is pretty horrible as well. Brown just shows that just because you are best player ever it doesn’t qualify you to be a great owner (talking about you MJ). You guys did a good job on this one.
