The call in question was the picked up flag in the fourth quarter of the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys Wildcard game. With nine minutes left in the game, the Lions were leading 20-17 at the Dallas 46 yard line. On third-and –one, the Lions took a shot as Matthew Stafford attempted to complete a pass to tight end Brandon Pettigrew.
Cowboys linebacker, Anthony Hitchens, was hit with a flag for defensive pass interference. That would have given the Lions a first down in Dallas territory putting them back in command. Instead, the flag was picked up. The Lions were forced to punt and the rest is now history.
