4. CB Charles Tillman – Bears:
I know, its very rare to have a defensive player in the discussion but you have to give Tillman huge consideration for the Madden NFL 14 cover. Tillman is a beast on the defensive end and he is the cornerstone of the Bears defense. Statistically speaking, Tillman finished the season with 10 forced fumbles and 3 touchdowns leading the Bears to a 10-6 record for the season. Unfortunately the Bears relied too heavily on defense and the offense couldn’t measure up for a playoff berth.
5. DE J.J. Watt – Texans:
J.J. Watt is a monster, figuratively speaking. He will physically eat you for breakfast on the defensive end. Watt was named a AFC Defensive Player of the month. He became the ninth player in NFL history to record 20+ sacks in a season. Watt tied a franchise single-season record with several forced fumbles in four consecutive games.
6. QB Peyton Manning – Broncos:
Tebow who? After being traded from the Colts to the Broncos, Peyton Manning made all the naysayers quiet down by leading his team to a 13-3 record and the Broncos have won 11 straight games leading up to the playoffs. Manning is one of the leading MVP candidates and as legendary as he is, he has never appeared on the cover of Madden. Just a year ago Manning was an out-of-commission quarterback for the Colts; Manning missed the 2011 NFL season with a damaged nerve that caused weakness in his throwing arm and required multiple neck surgeries. The Broncos finished with the best record in the AFC.
