As part of the NFL Weekly In-Depth Analysis series we present the clash between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts. This is a 8:30 PM EST game that will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium as the X-X Indianapolis Colts host the 6-0 Denver Broncos. Can Andrew Luck and the Colts hold serve against the undefeated Broncos? Can Peyton Manning and the Broncos running game head into Lucas Oil Stadium and stay undefeated? Here are the Vegas odds for the game and what the Sports Unbiased In-Depth Analysis Team believes will occur this Sunday. The writers taking part are: Mike Santangelo, Josh Madas, “Coach” Mike Fabber, John Yeomans, and Chris Pagliuca.
Vegas Odds (Spread and Over-under): Broncos minus 6 1/2, 56 u
Mike’s Pick: Now we get to what should be the game of the week. Peyton Manning heads home to Indianapolis to face the team he took to glory for a whole lot of years. There he will face a team that seems to have something his best Colts teams never had. A defense. While Peyton has been unbelievable this year, Andrew Luck hasn’t exactly been a pushover himself, and the Colts have a far better scoring and passing defense than the Broncos can begin to claim. The Broncos however, have a better running defense, but I wonder if a lot of that isn’t slanted because of how fast the Broncos have gotten big leads in a lot of their games this season and made the opposition abandon the run game. Regardless, the crowd will be fired up, and Peyton has been coming back down to earth the past couple of weeks. I think the Colts pull this one off at home and knock off one of the unbeaten Final Score: Colts 30 Broncos 21
Chris’ Pick: The Colts have been pretty impressive this season, but the Broncos have been one of the most impressive teams I’ve seen in quite some time. The key to winning this game for the Broncos lies not with Peyton Manning, but in the rushing attack. This shouldn’t be much of a problem, as the Broncos have a top 15 run game in the NFL and Running Back Knowshon Moreno is currently leading the league in rushing touchdowns. The only hope this Colt team has is in the passing game, considering the Broncos are dead last in passing yards allowed. Nevertheless, Peyton Manning and the Broncos will get the job done against his former team. Expect a shootout with the Broncos coming out on top Final Score: Broncos 38 Colts 27
John’s Pick: Peyton Manning returns to Indy with his Denver Broncos looking unstoppable and now is ready to take down their next and very important victim the Colts. After looking very impressive against the Seahawks the Colts went two steps back with Andrew Luck’s offensive weapons having butterfingers most of the game against the Chargers, which ultimately ended in defeat. Now with Manning ready to exact revenge on the Colts for cutting him last year Indy’s offensive weapons need to take advantage of the one weakness the Broncos have, their secondary. This will be easier said than done with the Broncos having their star linebacker Von Miller back to bring the heat and keep Luck from getting comfortable in the pocket. The Colts might put up a fight but there is no way Manning walks out the loser in this showdown Final Score: Broncos 33 Colts 24
Coach’s Pick:This is a game most of us have been waiting for since Peyton went to Denver. These two teams are two of the top teams in the AFC and the whole NFL. Peyton Manning is the master and Andrew Luck is the student learning wax on, wax off. This game is Sunday night primetime for all of us to see. Will the Broncos keep stuttering till someone knocks them off? Can Luck turn it around after a disappointing showing in San Diego on Monday night? Manning has the Broncos on top in passing offense but their defense sits in dead last. Luck should be able have his way this game but not sure it will be enough to beat this Broncos team. The real question is can Peyton Manning handle all the emotions of going back to the place he called home for over a decade, I don’t see how he could. The Colts get back on track by pulling the upset Final Score: Colts 34 Broncos 31
Josh’s Pick: Let’s just take a moment to let it sink in. Peyton Manning is returning to Indianapolis, but not in the way Colts fans were expecting.
This will certainly be an emotional night for Manning, but I do not doubt that will distract him. He has played phenomenal this season and has showed many fans that he has a lot left. I expect him to be extra attentive this week and come out strong.
So far, the Colts have played extremely well. Andrew Luck is the next face of the NFL and has played like a veteran against some tough defenses this season. The Colts have beaten the Seahawks and 49ers with hard-nosed football. If they are to win on Sunday, Luck will have to control the tempo and keep Manning off the field.
While I love the Colts this season, I do not see Manning allowing his team to lose to his old squad. We may see the #18 retired at some point in Indianapolis. However, on Sunday this is all business for both sides. Since I am on record for saying the Broncos could go undefeated, I am picking them to win Final Score: Broncos 42 Colts 21
