The Bills are 1-1 under new coach Doug Marrone. In two weeks Buffalo has had two close games, one of which they lost to the New England Patriots 23-21 and won the other 24-23 versus the Carolina Panthers. In the first week rookie QB EJ Manuel looked like a first round draft pick – he was able to extend plays and keep Buffalo in the game.
However, last week versus the Panthers Manuel found himself making some mistakes. He fumbled the ball and threw an interception on back-to-back drives. The rookie will have to start playing better if the Bills want to keep winning, however, the Bills should rely on their great two headed rushing attack with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. On the other side of the ball, the defense has been a force at getting to the quarterback. Mario Williams leads the league in sacks with 4.5 and the young secondary is holding up until Jairus Byrd and Stephon Gilmore can get back on the field. However, they must try to stop letting teams run all over them if they want to continue to win.
New York Jets:
The Jets come into this matchup also at 1-1. The Jets pulled a last minute upset over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and also lost a game to the New England Patriots. Overall consistent offensive production has been hard to come by in New York.
As rookie QB Geno Smith gets more comfortable in the offense there is hope that the offense becomes more productive and consistent. The Jets are still trying to find the starting running back but with wide receiver Santonio Holmes returning in week 2 the hope is he can help spark the offense with his speed and veteran leadership. On the defensive side of the ball the Jets have a have been very good. The defensive line seems to get pressure on the QB, the linebackers have been stopping the run and the secondary keeping the wide receivers and quarterbacks in check.

What to look for:
Which Rookie will be better?
In the 2013 NFL Draft, Geno Smith was supposed to be the first quarterback off the board. However, when Buffalo was on the clock they decided to choose EJ Manuel and Smith slid to the Jets in the second round. The Bills organization and fans are hoping that they didn’t make a mistake that by passing up on Smith in the first round. It will be interesting to see which rookie prevails on Sunday, but just remember this is just one of the many match ups between these two rookies.
I believe this game is going to come down to which defense is better. Both defenses have been playing well and bringing plenty of pressure. On Sunday, pressure is going to be the key but also look for both teams to do some crazy defensive fronts to try and confuse the quarterbacks and get them to make a mistake.
Prediction: Buffalo 20 Jets 13
This one should be a dog fight since it is a AFC East rivalry and should be a very hard hitting game. The Jets haven’t showed much on offense yet this season to really convince me they will be able to produce points but their defense should able to keep the game close. Rookie EJ Manuel has looked average in both outing this year but Buffalo will be relying on Spiller to make big plays.
