The first week of college football is in the books, which means it’s now time to see how it has affected the composition of the preseason top-25 guesswork. We had some major surprises, some down-to-the-wire thrills, and after the long summer of our discontent we actually have real football on which to base our opinions.

Once again the Tailgater crew — Matt Strobl, John Mitchell, and I — has offered up its own idea of the college football hierarchy. Some teams stayed right where they fell in our preseason selections; others radically shifted around, either thanks to surprise performances or disappointing upsets. Some teams popped on our radar that weren’t there in the preseason, while others disappeared altogether.

First, here’s how our ballots combined to form this week’s inaugural poll of the 2013 regular season:

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Fresno State (6), USC (6), Western Kentucky (4), Michigan State (1)

Our picks for the top two teams stayed the same, but beyond that much of the top 25 shuffled around. Two teams that fell outside the preseason top 25 also made their way onto the list — Washington, entering the poll all the way at #21 after blowing out Boise State at home on Saturday night; and the Miami Hurricanes, which received votes in the preseason poll but fell outside the cutoff for a top-25 spot. Two teams that suffered losses over the weekend also remained on the list despite their defeats — Georgia, which fell nine spots after its loss to Clemson in the Georgia Dome; and TCU, which dropped seven following the defeat to LSU in Cowboys Stadium.

That said, you’ve probably got a different opinion than us. With the spirit of contention in mind, you will find our individual ballots below. Leave your personal picks, acrimonious invective, base insults, insulting suggestions, or belligerent rants down  in the comments below. You’re also always welcome to hit up any of us on Twitter to offer a piece of your mind…
