Keith Rivas – Of the teams in the Western Conference that I see having a potential breakout year, the Utah Jazz are flying high on my radar. Rudy Gobert is one of the biggest reasons for that because, as a major down low presence, Gobert stepping up just a little more might be what puts the Jazz in the playoff conversation. Albeit, the team will need to improve to have that mean anything — but that doesn’t take away from the contributions Gobert has made in his stint with the squad.
Jr. Williams – The Utah Jazz are equipped with a talented group of high caliber players featuring Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, and Rudy Gobert headlining a roster I think could win more than 40 games this season. Gobert is one of the most efficient defensive players in the Western Conference, he rebounds like a NBA veteran, and blocks shots better than most centers in the league (2.6 blocks per game in 2014-15 ). Despite limited touches, you can see that the talent is certainly there offensively as Gober currently shoots a career .581 from the field. I’d like to see him get around 8-10 fga per game this season, however, the sky’s the limit for this young stud as the Jazz could be a scary team in the next 2 seasons if they keep their core group of players.
