Bayern Munich clinched the 2013/14 Bundesliga title with seven matches to spare following a 3-1 victory over Hertha Berlin yesterday.
It has been a record-setting season for last season’s treble winners under new manager Pep Guardiola. The victory at Berlin was not only their tenth straight away win, but also their 19th consecutive league win and a 52-match unbeaten streak overall – all Bundesliga records!
Bayern Munich has now won the league title for a record 24th time. No other club in Germany has won more than ten league titles. They currently enjoy a sizeable 25-point lead over second place Borussia Dortmund (who were runners up last season).
By clinching the league title this early, Guardiola and afford to rest of some of his key players and focus on fielding his strongest side for the UEFA Champions League as well as the DFB-Pokal.
