Brooklyn Nets All-Star small forward Joe Johnson sat out his second game in a row due to tendinitis in his right knee. The injury is not listed as serious and Johnson is expected to return within the next few games. The Nets have suffered a string of injuries among several key players on their roster, more notably center Brook Lopez who is expected to return after the All-Star break. Other injured Nets players include: Andre Blatche (bruised left hip) and Andrei Kirilenko (sore right calf). The good news is the Nets finally snapped a three game losing streak after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 108-102.
In other news, Nets head Jason Kidd was named Eastern Conference coach of the month. Kidd turned around what was an once an abysmal regular season record into having one of the best winning percentages in the east for the month of January. The Nets are currently holding down the seventh playoff seed in the east with a 21-25 record.
