I would love to tell you that the champ is here. The unfortunate truth is I don’t know where or who the champ is. John Cena’s Last Man Standing match with number one contender Ryback ended in a draw Sunday night as both superstars had to be helped by medical personnel backstage after Ryback and Cena went through the stage lighting forcing a draw.
John Cena was dominated by Ryback early on in the match getting thrown through a table and being shell-shocked by the ravenous beast. Ryback continued his dominance hitting the “Cenation” leader with punishing blows and his signature meat hook clothesline.
Cena turned the tide later on in the match spearing Ryback right through the ringside barricade. The fans of St Louis, Missouri stood in shock as both men were able to answer a ten count and continue the bout.
Ryback and Cena’s battle spilled into the stands of the arena as the competitors matched each other blow for blow, and the fans watched on inches away from their favorite superstars. Ryback and Cena continued their rampage as Ryback found a concession stand sign and beat Cena over the head with it. As the referee reached an eight count Cena somehow made it back to his feet ready to continue the match.
Knowing what was as stake Cena became desperate to put the beast away, even climbing an elevated section of fan seating and hurtling himself and Ryback into a table below. The carnage continued onto the Extreme Rules stage entrance where Cena tried to set up his signature attitude adjustment hoping to throw Ryback off the stage and win the match. Ryback quickly reversed the AA, grabbing Cena and hurtling them both into the stage lights. Small explosions could be seen on the stage as the fans sat in awe at what they had just witnessed
It took several minutes to find both men backstage as referees and medical personnel searched desperately for the superstars. When Cena and Ryback where found, Ryback was helped by medical personnel to his feet and led away from the wreckage. John Cena had to be strapped to a gurney and carried away after technicians removed several feet of lead pipes that the superstars were caught in.
It was later shown in a video that Cena refused to go to the hospital despite the pleadings of medics, Teddy Long, and many other backstage personnel. The battered champion even unbuckled his neck brace and slid off the gurney as security helped him to the training room for further evaluation.
With the “Cenation” leader beaten and battered after Extreme Rules, will he still be able to compete? Or will he have to vacate the title due to injury? Will Ryback still be the number one contender? I am truly terrified as a fan that WWE creative will scrap the storyline and John Cena will be forced to vacate his WWE title.
