I am an Oakland native with an education in Political Science and International Relations, but I hold a deep passion for sports. I've been playing, critiquing and arguing about basketball, football and occasionally boxing/MMA for a while. I am always looking to learn and be corrected.

The wild 2004-2005 season when the Western Conference was virtually up for grabs provided more than enough excitement for fans. In this case, back when the Seattle Supersonics still existed, had a solid shot at the Conference finals before running into the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs. A star-studded and athletic team, headed by Ray Allen tries and successfully defeats the regular season favorite Phoenix Suns in a thrilling 2 OT game that I will remember. I recall catching the latter half of this game. After all the good games had gone off, this was the only thing to watch. What was looking like a blowout victory for the...

Today the Brooklyn Nets found their new head coach in Jason Kidd; one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game. This new wave of players-turned-coaches is showing us that there is a new era of basketball that will not only be exciting but more personal and passionate Kidd, who turned 40 this past March, and retired just weeks ago, will take on the new task of coaching a Brooklyn squad headed by another talented point guard in Deron Williams. Players always rant and rave about how the coaches can't relate to the game, now however, who better than a former champion and 10-times All-Star? We see the fruitful relationships...

Predictions and arguments aside, this is shaping up to be one of the lackluster NBA Finals to date. However, this might be one of the greatest basketball rivalries to ever materialize in sometime. LeBron James vs. the San Antonio Spurs, round 2. It won't be pretty and it definitely won't be flashy. We're talking about watching drag-down-knock-out basketball between two totally different teams in all aspects of the game. Since 2007, LeBron has been on an unbelievable tear - four MVPs, a championship, and a Gold Medal in international competition but now James faces one more challenge: Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs. For...

This has to go down as a top 50 NBA moment. Scenario - a must win against a crosstown rival and largely rooted against San Antonio team that was favorite to win the West before winning the title in 2005.  Houston, 2004, down 10 with 56 seconds to go. The game is seemingly over, or so fans thought. After a missed layup, a Yao Ming put-back, and a steal-score from Bobby Sura, one of the greatest comebacks and shooting performances in NBA history is in the process of being executed. Tracy McGrady is one of my favorite players, and has been since his Toronto days. His fearlessness and shooting abilities have always been a nightmare for...

I wanted to save this for the off-season, you know, the most exciting time in basketball, but I was up wracking my brain about who would I build my franchise around... Kevin Durant or Carmelo Anthony? I have been a big KD fan since his one season at Texas. As a brilliant scorer with ridiculous intangibles and a tremendous upside to his game, Durant will remain a superstar in this league for years to come. A testament to his ability is Durant's career average of 26.6 ppg and 28.6 ppg in the playoffs. No doubt a monumental talent, however, after the loss to the Grizzlies, I believe he was exposed as that player with huge talent that...
